Dr. Schultz completed a six-year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Some of the first orthognathic (jaw) surgery and dental implant surgery procedures performed in the United States were done at the Mayo Clinic. The doctors who performed these procedures were Dr. Schultz’s consultant surgeons and instructors. While at this respected and cutting-edge institution, Dr. Schultz was trained in the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, managing a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions.

Dr. Schultz is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which places him into an exclusive category of oral surgeons.  Certification requires that the surgeon demonstrate extensive training, experience, and knowledge in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in order to qualify to take oral examination by the certifying board. Successful completion of this process by Dr. Schultz assures you that he is competent in all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Schultz practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with expertise ranging from corrective jaw surgery and wisdom tooth removal to facial reconstruction surgery. He has also received intensive training in the administration of anesthesia, functioning exclusively as an anesthesia resident for 4 months, and administering anesthesia to his own patients in the Mayo Clinic’s outpatient Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinic.

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program at the Mayo Clinic is integrated with the Mayo Medical School, meaning that while in training Dr. Schultz obtained a Doctor of Medicine Degree. Dr. Schultz is licensed to practice both Dentistry and Medicine in the State of Wisconsin, which enables him to provide the highest and most comprehensive quality of care to his patients.
